OK Have a peace dollar. Has a die crack and lamination peel. No mint mark.. so its a P right, well I was lookng at it .. and I think I see an S.. (or it could be maching doubling .. HAA HAA Im kidding.) Am I seeing things or can anyone else see it too? Do you think its just a special way all the chatter in the field is causing it to look like an S or is that really a serif? I compared it to a 1922 S I have and its in the right spot and about the right size and shape.

Can't tell from the pic but the S should be about dead center between that line and the rim. It looked like that mark you see is maybe a bit closer to the rim but can't tell much from the pic. (they could have punched it there but most are further out)
In any case p-d-s in 1922 are all worth the same and in low grade not much over melt value so it might not matter much either way.

I had one that had such a weak S that I touched it with a marker and wiped it with my finger and the remaining ink stayed around the S and made it clear and ended me questioning it, you might try that.

You could use a washable one.
I used an old permanent black sharpie but I wiped it gently with my finger right after I did it before it dried and it only left it around the S. Yea my finger was black for a while
I left it that way since it made the S easy to see and it looked natural even with the little bit of ink highlighting the S.

Hmmm in the pic it sort of looks like a D there?
When I wiped mine it left a lot less ink. Just highlighted the mint.

I got the ink off and now I see nothing!! Go figure... Oh well good try though. Learn something new every day. If you stare hard enough you too can find Double Dies and Mint marks.
