Coop, I can get the first photo, but can't make the second one appear. What am I not doing, or doing wrong?

Dick,
With photoshop open and the first photo there you then go up to the file button drop it down and click on open then pick from the page that pops up. you can pick one or highlight as many as you want to open that way.

Dick,
You are probably right clicking on a photo and opening that way correct?????
You don't need to start that way unless you are only gong to work with one photo. Just open photo shop then follow the same instructions as above.

Click the FILE then the OPEN button.
This will open another page. Drop down to the file you have your photos in and click on that file.
Highlight the photo or photos you want to work with.
Then click open.
Then the photos you highlighted will be place onto photo shop.

Dick,
One thing I have found that I like to do. (because I've made a mistake or two ) I always make copies of the photos I want to work with because one you start cropping layering and otherwise changing the photo you will always have the origional in case you want to start over again.
Good luck.
Steven

Steven I am making hard copies of this. I just ran into your post. Thanks. I agree with having copies so that when, (everytime so far, that I screw up the one I have, I don't have to "buy a new one), I will be able to continue. Not having a manual is difficult, but having friends who are willing to act as my "GURU", I am blessed! I'll play with what you have said, and see what kind of trouble I can get myself into!

Steven, I replied from another computer, so this might not get posted. Looking at your pictures of your files, you have been both, busy, and efficient! I promise I won't try to copy any of them!
Later: I like the notes you have. Are they the properties of the photos, or the attributions?

Dick: You don't have to save the photo onto a disk or your drives to save your progressive work. When you get a few steps into the image, just create a duplicate/copy of your work, then minimize and continue with the copy or with your first image. This is nice if you are taking several steps as the history holds about 20 steps. If you have to go back 20 steps, then you have to start over. So make a duplicate of your work as you go along. You can go back to any duplicate if you don't like what happened 22 steps ago. On somethings I may make 100 edits to an image or only two. Just depending on what I'm working on. So on an overlay or just an image, I may not make a duplicate. On something detailed, I make several as I go along so I will be able to go back in time (so to speak) before I messed something up. Just something that works for me.

Dick: Not a problem at all. I enjoy it when others use what I've found. Someone else may find something better and I can learn from them. Its a melting (SP) of the minds here. The quality of the images are improving. If you don't think you are improving, look at images taken one month/year ago. I find I need to re-due stuff as I go along, as I keep finding something better. Learning is a work in progress. So if we aren't making progress, we are left behind. So hang in there, its something we all have to go through and the sense of accomplishment is worth any effort we take.

Coop, I have had to revise my Picture taking system, because I don't get the same "view" from the "camera on scope", as I do with the QX3, at least not now. There are some things that I want to do that the QX3 will not allow, but it does provide an album from which to work. That says a lot. Mose of my photos, (from any camera, or other source) go to "my documents", to make them more readily avaolable. But I also have to consider the size of the hard drive I am using. In this unit it is 120 GB, ans in the other, (98SE) it is from 13.0- 40GB, depending which one is in use. That isn't much for photography. I am going to stop checking coins, other than to put them into date/mint rolls, and just box them for a whikle, until I get a good hold of the photography. I'll still be looking at them, but not full-time. There will be a post, now, and then, (if for no other reason, to keep my "count" down" I just noticed I am over 1000! Chuck ought to erase about 900 numbers, just to get me at a valid number! I am trying to increase my photos contribution, and decrease my BS accumulation!

Steven, I can get the photo(s) I want on screen, but I can't do anything with them. What I think will have to be done, (in my case), is to copy the tool bar, and then copy each of the windows that open when I touch a tab. Then copy all that is in the window, all the way across the tool bar! I know, that is a LOT of work! BUT, If one does not know what the tabs are, and what is in the window they open, without the "book" one is up the creek!. SO, a lot of writing. Once it is done, then maybe I can put it to use. I heard someone mention "it is like MSPaint". I have that, in XP, but same canoe, up the same creek! Coop posted a page, or two, with the different tabs, etc, but it doesn't say what you will see when you key the tab. Thus, my "work to be done". If it works out well enough, maybe I can print, and then post it for the one, or two that like me need to start at square -101!
