Something with a nice error came from the D mint!
Now they found one D mint that has the edge letting but was a blank planchet. No reason this can't happen at both mints.
This makes sense, with these Dollar coins you can get ones with no edge lettering, all the ones I've heard of were on P mint coins but no reason it can't be on a D mint. It might not matter what the mint is since with a blank ege there's no mintmark either
There's atleast 4 nice possible dollar errors missing something, think what a set of all 4 would be worth
1)Missing edge letters on P mint or D mint will be the same.
2)Blank plan with edge letters from D mint.
3)Blank plan with edge letters from P mint.
4)Blank plan no edge letters on P mint or D mint will be same.

Also just curiouse what everyone thinks about those no edge (no date, MM, in god we trust) dollar coins?
I first thought "who cares" and I see tons of them selling on ebay but then I'm thinking that's unique, no date no mint no motto..... plus the first coin of a new serries plus it's one of the few varieties you can see from a few feet away so I'm wondering what you all think the future will be for them???

I personally do not see a good future for the presidential dollars. I think the design is dull. The only collectibility will be for those who want to complete a set. As far as being used in commerce...I see them going the way of the Susan B, and Sacajawea dollars. The error coins seem very numerous, so I see values falling greatly.
Needless to say, I am not a fan.

Excuse my bringing Mexico intio the picture frequently, but as I recall, they tried the edge lettering scheme, and it was very unpopular. It came out on the anniversary date of the constitution, and there were 10, 5, and 1 peso coins minted with the edge lettering. I'm not sure if it has been tried sionce,. but, while I was there, '60's, and 80's it was not accepted by most. Going back to the "dollars", The roll I got had some well struck coins, and some that were so badly struck, as to show very little of the features, that is was hard to tell who it was. Anyway, like some of our members have said, I don't think they will make ant more of a difference than the ones before, (but since the Peace Dollar).

i agree that the coins pictures are dull and im not buying into the so called "godless" plain rim errors but i like spending them around my fairly small town. I am planning to complete a set of them for my child-to-be. I like the coins and see no reason for others to hate on them but i do agree that they will most likely go the way of the sac and susan b.

Remember how bad the Sac's were with little wear? Color dropped off it faster than facial hair at the hair removal clinic.

Coop, Did yiou know you made the CW, too, along with Murph? Congrats, my friend!
On another thought, be VERY wary of any "game tokens", witout edge devices! They have found a latge amount of counterfeits!

Yes, Coop, you were "written up" by John Wexler, on your 2002D cent.
I'll scan it, and email you the article.
