Lots of BAD pictures but I try best I can.... To grade or not to grade? What do you think? Oh and is it an error coin or no?

Well.. I don't know if it from the picture quality, but the coin appears to have some minor wear on the reverse. From these pictures, I would probably guess that it grades AU-58.

We do have some mechanical issues, especially on LIBERTY. The doubling or notching you see on WE is common to most wheat cents. As far as having it graded, that is entirely up to you, but you need to consider if you are going to sell it or keep it. Something else to consider on a 1909 cent is that since it was the first year type, a very substantial amount of these were saved. It would be more difficult to find 1910, 1911, etc in AU-BU condition than 1909 cents.

Beside what seems to be a little wear on lincoln and the spots that coin would have graded good it has a great strike on the parts of the rev that are usually very weak. I agree that it would come back AU-58 And if you got lucky MS-61 it would all depend on the grader and service you sent it to. Also i have noticed that unless its a low populated date people have really started avoided buyin graded coins esp from ebay due to fraud. The sonic sealers that they use are availible and not only do they seal they unseal them. So people have been doin the switch. I got a bunch of pcgs graded 51s dimes and can get more for a raw coin in most cases then the graded 1's

Eric,
Where did you hear about the coin switching?
Is in only certain holders (PCGS-NGC-ANACS-PCI)?

I was trying to sell a PCGS MS-66 1951 S Dime RPM #1 and couldnt get 20 bucks for it. Had people ask me if it was real. Then i asked a friend at a local coin shop and he showed me he took a a holder and hit it and bam it was opened and he sealed it right up. He did mention that most reputable grading services are working on making there holders tamperproof. He also mentioned for some unknown reason NGC was the hardest to open so atm he is sending most his coins there.
Just did a search on ebay and didnt find a sealer but found 3 dif kinds of slab holders.
