Whats going on with this 2004? Is this a new variety? Not the best pic as usual.! Will try to get a better if needed.

Not sure if it is raised from the coin or pressed into the coin. If raised it could be a gas bubble (see if other areas of the coin experience that?) or a die gouge or a doubled column. If scraped into the coin, it could be a bag nick from other coins or damage. So wee would need a little more information. I found one like that, and Wexler listed it. I don't have an image on hand right now, but mine turns at the pedistal to the left.

Coop,no chance of a gas bubble.! from the knee cap down the "long leg" has a fluted/scalloped look at a slightly different angle. ( just like some of the bar type DDR's when viewed @ different angles) Also, it looks like it lies on top of the pedestal so it must be raised unless im seeing things.! The 16x dublet dont do very well on such minor detail.. I will try to add another pic later..

Try turning the coin 90 degrees and take images. The will show where the shadow falls. You can rotate back to the straight position when you edit it to appear normal. See if we can see more contrast of the bar.

Is the thing in the next bay a scratch or similar raised area?
Gas bubbles can turn out as a long area, if you see other gas bubbles that might explain it.

No gas bubbles on the reverse. I believe the anomoly to the right is more of the same that im seeing on lincolns statue, but im not sure.. I took pics at different angles for nearly an hour then couldn't decide which one to show, so I chose four.! The pic that was taken with the auto light adjustment (metal appearance) shows details that looks more like satan setting on his thrown rather than Lincoln.! Would make a great pic for halloween
Anyhow, a couple of the pics show exactly what I was seeing & the others are showing details I never seen until I took the pics at different angles as coop suggested. Maybe you can make heads or tails from these..

CP: I found the one I submitted to John Wexler and he numbered it 1999-D WDDR-002. Got some images to look at.

Coop, is there any chance that the anamoly could be left-over "damage" from a clash?

I would guess that the die turned/rotated some from the hubbing process. I found another one one that had even strong evidence of the rotation theory when it was hubbed. At first I thought it was die gouges or gas bubbles, but I found a second coin and Bill slaughter found one also. I sent one of them in and John Wexler gave it a number also as a DDR.

When I took the images I thought it was die gouges, but the rotated hubbing theory matches the columns and design of the inner area of the center bay.

Some of these DDRs that only show near the center are easy to miss.
A few months ago I was searching a box and saw a 2006-P that had a line along the right leg going along and then below the leg. I thought it's something else maybe gas or a gouge and tossed it back. Later I saw the same coin listed on the site as 1DR-009. I still had the box so I looked and found it again. I almost put it back in circulation LOL.
It's good to put odd ones aside if you are not sure in case you want to look again later.

I set some aside in stacks, and they become piles and later into tubes. Some identify, some I never do and other I toss back. I try to keep for for a while thought till I'm sure.

Very interesting. If you don't get it figured out soon, I would be happy to have a look at it and let you know what I think. I just can't make a determination based on the pics alone.

Coop, that is very simular.! what did it cost to have the coin attributed? Also, what does the coin value @?
Keeping with the conversation, I to have several coins tossed away in paper rollers that I plan to take another look at when I gain more knowledge, I would drive you guys crazy if I posted everything "I thought" I found.
Bob, would be happy to send the coin your way,! Just need your addy..

CP: Price? Never had it priced. Somewhere between worthless/priceless. But John wanted to see it when I sent him an image of it. I had found another coin he was intersted in, so I sent with the other coin. Not sure what he charges for attribution.
