Photography has evolved tremendously in the past 30 years. Proper photography set ups can be expensive but with a little (very little) knowledge and practice ( a lot) you can take some reasonable photos of coins both Macro and Micro. Years ago you could take a 35 mm screw mount camera with a normal lense buy adaptor rings and extention tubes reverse the lense, add the extention tubes, mount it on a table top Drill Press and take some pritty good closeups. Lighting was a problem but auto drop light fixtures that have clamps on them and 300 Watt flood light bulbs solved that problem. Careful they get very Hot but the photos were good enough to be used in publications. Back then I developed and printed my own pictures in the garage with the lights out.
Today I have a Sterio Scope a Sony F71 camera with a zoom lense, a camera stand and the auto drop lights but I use 60 watt GE Daylight bulbs that are tinted light blue. Useing a set of enlarging rings on the lens I can take full coin photos almost as fast as I can change coins. For mint marks and other close ups its no problem to remove the close up rings hold the camera directly against the eye piece of the Sterio Scope and shoot. With the Sony I can go straight to the computer with the disk and do my cropping and clean up and I have a photo to send out on the internet or to publishing. I still have lighting problems to work out and there are easier (more expensive) ways to do this but what I do works for me. (sometimes) Smile

Charles
I was afraid you would ask that. The only ones I have posted are not copper. I am working on several coppers now and working mostly with Lincolns right now.

Lucky2, I was reading some of the old posts, and saw your link. I also checked the web site. I was not aware that AIM could be obtained, and/or used, unless one has AOL. I thought about it, and the idea came that if we, (when working closely with one another, like in explaining Photoshop operations, etc), it would make for fast comments, or explanations for the "boo-boo", or for the next step. Not everyone has, or likes AOL, for whatever reason. I have it, and have for years. I guess I just learned to put up with its BS! Any comments? I am just getting started on learning about Photoshop, and altho it is very interesting, it sure is not easy!
