Just got this interesting AU 1982 Copper Large Date DDO on eBay. Advertised as 2-0-V, FS # 034.5, which doesn't exist, so I took a chance for $15.00 and got this. It could be 1-O-V-CW from K-5, which is FS #034.5 but CONECA also states that there is doubling on LIBERTY. The condition of the coin might be preventing indentification of doubling on LIBERTY on this coin. At any rate, it is a good find which will surely be 1DO-002 on CC.com. Steve

Looks like it's FS-034.5
The CPG lists FS-034.5 as 2-O-V
(that's why the person listed it that way)
But Coneca lists 1-O-V as a cross for FS-034.5
One of them must be listed wrong, maybe the CPG.

Well, actually both die numbers are correct - it's just a matter of when it was published. You see, the system was invented and developed by John Wexler a long time ago. He teamed up with CONECA as an attributer many years ago. After a number of years as CONECA attributer, he left CONECA and formed NCADD with others. There was a dispute over who was to get the files; in short, John kept them, and James Wiles spent years redeveloping them. At some point, the 1982 files were rebuilt, and for whatever reason, die #1, a class 6 distended hub doubled die, was dropped from the files and die #2, this one, was relisted as die #1. So, in effect, what had been 2-O-V is now 1-O-V.
As for this coin, it is the doubled die, however I do question the color on this coin. It appears orangish, as if cleaned.
These are somewhat scarce, I haven't seen but a handful of them throughout my time doing this. I have two of them - one I found in change from Memphis, Tennessee back in 2001, and the other I picked up in a collection.

No doubt a cleaned AU, there has to a bad one at the bottom to make the better examples look even better! Thanks for the clarification on the numbering. Steve
