Thanks BJ,
I probably won't get to see it unless it is on line somewhere.
Sounds cool.

Yes, there is such a thing and I have seen one. Hopefully the owner will send it to James Wiles so we can confirm that the 1989 does come with a RDV-005. From the amount of hits over in the CONECA forum that the transitional Lincolns have been receiving, I would say that it will be a sort after variety.

No problem More publicity the better I guess huh. Sure be nice to find out some kind of value with these just for the knowing of it. I haven't heard of any more finds have you?

No, I haven't. With such a small supply(so far) I guess any demand at all would make the price pretty much wherever you want to set it. Think BIG! Any publicity can't hurt, it can only create more demand. If some more were found that may not be such a bad thing either. Maybe someday these transitional varieties will make it into the Red Book like the wide AM's did and demand will go way up. Hold on to yours tightly. I'll do the same.

I searched a few thousand 1989-P cents and found 4 that look like they have a different G. They seem to not have the details that RDV-6 should have. I think it might just be related to the strikes and I think these are RDV-6 but wanted other opinions to be sure. Please tell me if any of these 4 could be RDV-5 or are poorly struck RDV-6:
(the reason I think they are not RDV-5 is the bottom of the G looks less rounded than I expected for RDV-5 but the center horizontal detail that RDV-6 should have looks to be missing so I am still not sure)
The 4 1989-P cents with different looking G:
Example of RDV-6 (on a 1989) and RDV-5 (on a 1988):

The more I looked the more I think these are just poorly struck RDV-6.
Any thoughts on these?

Car10,
Funny that you noted #4.
To me the FG looks about the same on all 4 but when I look at the markers at the link to variety vista it looks a lot like #4.
This coin may have the same markers but some other die polish lines in the same areas. I'll see if I can get pics of the markers, if I can I'll post them.

That is very interesting indeed. I'm pretty sure Dr. Wiles would be very interested in examining the coin as a potential confirmation piece. If your willing to let him examine it please send him an email. You can tell him that I suggested you contact him. Please keep me posted. Thanks.
