I was recently given this 2005 Lincoln cent for attribution. It appeared to have some faint lines from the tops of the letters in the EPU
If you look closely at the arrows, you can see those lines. Now, with a change of light (very low level) and a bit of a different angle, you see this.
Trails and even wavy steps are a hard subject to capture with a camera. The lighting must be at the right level and also the right intensity, or you are going to end up with nothing. This even holds true when searching for these anomalies; the lighting, the angle of observation and the intensity must be just right.
