This is a 1983 that I think may be 1DR-002 but I’m not sure , as you can see I’m having trouble getting a good close-up shot . [img]

Sure looks like it to me. Tighter closeups would help, but I can make out the die crack marker near the FG initials just fine. What a great find!. Awesome job.

I would not trust that particular "marker", because, out of a 100, there will be 75-90 with at least that one, and on the opposite end, another. And as if that weren't enough, two more on the corners of the building! This is one of the signatures of the early '82's.

Just having attributed one, I would think yes, it is die # 2. However, only with coin in hand can an attributer be 100 % sure of the validity of a die.

The coin looks a lot better under my 10x loupe than in the pictures,
I’m just learning about spotting the die markers on all the different varieties.
Glad that I got one right, by the way my name is Drew, originally from the Miami-Homestead area, that’s where all of the coins that I’ll be showing were found, I lived in Homestead when hurricane Andrew almost wiped it off the map, about six year ago and finally getting fed-up with it down there I relocated to the Lake Placid area and wouldn’t you know I’m here about a year and this area gets criss-crossed by three hurricane’s. The bad thing is that there’s no coin dealers around here and the nearest to me are in Sarasota, Tampa, Orlando, and West Palm. about a 150+ mile round trip to any of these. I really appreciate the help with these Coins. I’m only using a 10x loupe and a camera to identify them, I have been reading posts about some sort of scope could you go into more detail about it. I’m going through them and trying to separate my coin s so I know which ones to send out for grading. Also I noticed that the pictures that I post are pretty large, I’ve been using the resize button on the photobucket site 600x400 should I drop it down to the 300 size or is this ok ?.

Jeesh....I've been looking for a DDR like that for about six years now and have never seen one in person. Only have I seen photos once, and that was it. This is a VERY NICE find, and I congratulate you.
As to exactly what it is, I cannot be very certain without having unpacked all my gear, but I can say it is definitely a doubled die and a very nice one. I know a lesser doubled die existed for 1983 reverse, but hadn't known exactly what I was looking for until now. Thanks!

Chuck,
I added pics of that variety onto the site sometime last year. It was sent in by Bill Slaughter. I had never seen one until then. It may be lesser than the DDO-001, but it is VERY nice, and easily seen (almost naked eye visible if you're not blind like me).

Ahh...okay, I didn't even think to look on the site to see if one had been listed. I know Billy put one either in his book or on a site at one point, and that got me looking for them.
I guess now that I live in Florida, I should see a lot more P mint cents than I did back home. Maybe I'll have a better chance of finding the good P mint doubled dies now.

I can’t Imagine what was in the six rolls that I dumped about 4 months ago.
I do have another 83 that seems to have doubling on the rev. It does not look like a die 1 or a die 2.
If it is die doubling, it has slight doubling to the right. I’ll work on getting a good photo.
