I know.....I know. These often turn out to be just die gouges or master die or other disappointing revelations. BUT.... kind of interesting nonetheless. Take a look at the second 9 in date. Almost like a second tail coming to lower right.

Any thoughts??

Don't know quite what it is, but it doesn't have the characteristics of a hub doubled tail of the 9. I believe it may in fact be a die gouge.

I agree. I don't believe that a hub-doubled die would make that kind of marking on just the one numeral, and not show something on at least the "0", being in that close proximity. IMHO.
