To go along with Copper_Crazy's nice 1924S class 6 find, I had a pretty interesting find myself today. Once again, it is on an old coin that you figured should have been reported some time before now. Anyway, this is a 1927D coin with both a doubled die AND a repunched mintmark on it. The doubled die is a strong doubled eyelid to the south and a medium spread south on the TY of LIBERTY. I designated it as 1927D-1DO-002. The RPM is a light D/D west that I designated as 1927D-1MM-002. You can see it here: (the pictures would be the same for both designators)

Bob, That is a nice find! It took me a while to finally spot the doubled eyelid, but the RPM, was no problem. I love the clarity in your photos. Do you use a different scope for the photos on the site, or is it the same one you use "at home"? The rreason is the definition amd clarity on the closeups. My scope does not have that capability. Is it that you have something else to aid you? I want to find something that will allow me to get "Micro-photography".
Dick

Dick,
The scope I use to search coins for and take photos is the same one. With Chuck's help, I managed to make a nice little adapter from PVC pipe that fits over the camera lens and the scope lens. From there it is just a matter of being steady and pressing the camera button.
My eyes aren't the greatest either, and at times the images come out blurry. Some minor imperfections can be taken care of with the editing software, but the majority of the time, I just retake the photos.

Very nice find. I personally would be a bit hesitant on the RPM until I had a less-worn coin to look at.
