Hi and welcome to the coppercoins forum. We are glad you are here.
As far as your coin, it looks as though your 1977D coin has machine doubling on the 7's and the mintmark. A good indicator of mechanical doubling on coins with mint marks prior to 1990, is that the doubling shows on both the date and mint mark. It usually would not be hub doubling as the mintmark was hand punched and the chances of having hub doubling and repunched mintmarks with doubling in the same direction is very slim.

Welcome Mufasa5! Congrats on your first post.

The image that you see as doubled could be from extreme die wear. Kind of like the 1955 SO CALLED "Poor mans doubled die." On a machine doubled coin you would see a flat shelf like distorted number/letter on either edge/both sides of the devices you looking at. In the image it looks not shelf like from what I can see. It looks more like a worn die. But either way, there is no priemium for either. If you would like too save it for later I've started a few tubes of several different examples I use for educational purposes. They help new collectors when they have questions. I can pull them out and take a shot and present them with an image/images. So I would set it aside for now till your sure. It will only cost you a one Cent to keep it for now.
