I'm trying to identify when there are notches present, the upper top left of the letters look like there is. Is this an indication of doubling on this or just the lighting playing tricks. Appreciate any comments to educate me on identifying this.
Thanks

Sandra, if you are doing this with "light tricks" Keep it up! You have the notches opn top, and they are very visible,, in spite of the light.
Congrats!

Actually I believe this to be just a normal 1982D cent. The large date cents of 1982 had especially wide and thick letters, and are often mistaken to be doubled dies. The thick letters would probably be the primary reason why they changed designs that year and went to the thinner lettered small date cent. The design had worn out and it was time for a change.

Thanks chuck. I wasn't too sure, but I thought it might be a good one. Sorry Sandra. Better luck next time,
Dick
