Ed, I was using the site photo, to compare. the setup I have right now doesn't lend itself to large shots, so I'll go another route. The "apparent" notch on the bottom left of the "I" , is what I wanted to show. My eyes don't help.

Dick,
The places to look for the doubling are not on AMERICA for DDR-002. If it were this variety, you should see significant doubling on UNITED and ONE, with lesser doubling on STATES OF, the motto, and CENT. I do not have a picture of AMERICA on the site for this variety.
I do not have a copy of the DDR here so I could check for notching on the I of AMERICA. I see what you are seeing in your photo, but I do not think it is anything as far as being a doubled die.

Bob, see what you think of these:
I have three more views, but of a clash.

Pretty good pictures Dick. I can pretty much tell that this is not a doubled die though, especially not DDR-002.

Bob, thanks for looking. I couldn't be sure, because of the shape of the letters, almost triangular, and quite wide.

That would be the normal appearance of the letters from that era - trapezoidal in shape with wide, beveled edges. No real flat-top area on the letters at all.

Thanks, Chuck. That was the reason I asked, because I don't recall seeing thet shape before, and thought I'd ask.
