Hi I'm not sure which this is, notice the lines coming off of the "M" in UNUM and not as noticeable the "N"

I do not believe they are trails, but I will leave it for the expert, BJ.

I would guess they are die scratches from cleaning to remove a clash. The reason why in that location is that the lower right edge of the bust runs close to that area. The continued scratching area would be from a strong cleaning. Thats my take on it. If it were die wear, the other devices would be affected and I don't see that except on the M. A closer examination on the area East of the UNUM would probably have more of these scratches also. They do flatten with time, except next to the devices.

Hi, sorry was doing good remembering to put the dates, its a 1979. I just read some of the posts and now realize it was highly improbable seeing how earliest known trail dies are in the early 80's. Laughing
