I am questioning this because I have read that if the dot is egg shaped it can be an identifier for doubling and also the thickness of the letters

Congrats on your find Sandra! Your using the "egg-shaped" dots as a pick-up point is a great way to help identify this class for the wheat reverse especially with the lower grades.

While this point was mentioned by one of the members a year, or so ago, I had not noticed the definite egg-shape, until this post. Would this also apply to the memorioal, and if not, why not?
Nice find, Sandra.

Dick - to answer your question, "yes" the periods will be mal-shaped on the reverse of the Memorial Lincoln cent. In Sandra's example, the periods are elongated (on the north / south axis), however, if you look at 2004P-1DR-001 and 002, you will notice that they appear as being bean shaped (elongated on the east / west axis), since that was the direction of the shift of the hub to die motion.

Thats why we look several times till out eye is trained. Note the Dot next to the "U" on UNUM.

That is a very nice example of a very strong Class 6 DDR Sandra.

Coop,
Do you have an extra 2002D DDR like your pic? I am having trouble finding that one.

That one is the only one known at this time. No one else has found one yet. But it is always nice to find more of them.
