This ones not very strong but there doesn't seem to be many found prior to '86 found.

Steven,
You definitely got a nice trails die there, and you are correct that not many prior to 86 have been found. According to BJ Neff, the earliest was 1982, but he believes there may be more from before that, and I would tend to agree with that based on the dates of trails dies like yours. I am sure he would like to add it to his listing.

Yes I sent an 82 to BJ. It may be the only one found for that year so far. I would imagine that a lot of these are missed do to the need for a lot of tilting the coin back and forthe to get the right angle in the light to see most of them.

Hi Steven - Definitely a trail die and one that I would be interested in seeing.
The more of these that we are able to analysis brings us just that closer to solving all the idiosyncrasies that are involved with trails and wavy steps.
