Teri, I have to go along with Carol. It is too dark for me to make a positive statement, but, ....I don't see any "split ends".
Carol, I like the avatar! It is as you say, "cool"! You can depend on Coop doing something of that type. He Is "Cool", also.

Maxine: Not sure what it is on the US. Looks like wear/movement of the die, but the RT on LIBERTY is from a broken hub that made the die to look that way. The rest of the coin looks normal except for the bumps from all the years out on it own. Nice of you to give it a home.

The subject coin in this thread is die wear. It flecks out in shelfs like that sometimes. It's the same effect that is seen on the 1955 cents with the shelf outside the last 5 of the date.
