That's an interesting vertical mark just above the D in V.D.B. and between the wheat stalks--what is that? It almost appears in relief. I haven't noticed that before on this year.

It would help a lot if you would describe what you see that you think is doubling. With no details to that effect, I can't say anything more than the fact that this coin looks like hundreds of others I've seen...just a 1909 VDB cent.
As an aside, I remember when these things were easily available for around $2 each, and now in lower grade circ condition they are worth $10+....amazing.
