What ever you do, don't bulk clean them. Try to find circulated examples with the same discoloration on them. Experiment on other coins and see what will work before you start with the nicer coins or the semi keys. The answer might be to leave them alone till you find an answer that will work. So be patient and take your time before trying just anything. The best coins to experiment are what you find in circulation. Save the real collectables as untouched till you know what your doing and the long range affect this may have on your collectable BEFORE you attempt anything.

Look close at your 46-S cents, there's a bunch of DDOs you might find and be sure to look for the 46-S S/D (S over D) 1OM-001.
You might also try to see if you can ID the 3 different style S mintmarks used in 1946. (ball serif style, sans serif style, serif style)

There is one more to look for in those 1946-S Lincoln's and it is the rarest of the bunch; that is the inverted ball serif mint mark.

Ken...Do you have Chuck's book? If you do, the photos of the different mint marks are in there. If not, I should be able to post something here for you.

For those of you who are looking for the book, here is the title, and where you can order it:
Looking Thru Lincoln Cents, Chronology of A Series, Second Edition. By Charles D. Daughtrey, NLG
You can find it, or where to obtain it at cd@coppercoins.com
Ut is a worthy addition to any Numismatic Reference Library.

Please be aware that this book is currently sold out through Chuck. It is available in some book stores and on Amazon.com. If you put the title on your Internet search, you should find other dealers who sell his book also. I have two copies of his first edition book for sale. If you are interested, please email me.
