I found this coin today and it was completely covered with gunk. I don't know what made me take the time, but I spent over an hour carefully cleaning it up. Boy am I glad I did! This particular coin could be worth hundreds! It is 1917P-1DO-001!

Thanks Guys! Ed, I had no idea these were going up that much. I grade this one at EF40. According to the PCGS price guide...that's about $1900.00! I am serious when I said I was about to throw it back into a pile. There was so much gunk on it. A dip in some goo-gone, and I saw the notches on the 9 in the date. From there, I knew what it was. It did clean up very nicely with only goo-gone and a sharp green thorn to clean out the devices. Some thing told me to pay attention to that coin, and with thousands sitting on my desk, I am glad I listened to myself. Otherwise, I wouldn't have known about it anyway.

You guys are not going to believe this. Guess what else I found today. C'mon....guess!
I don't know what the chances are (probably astronomical) , but beleive it or not...I FOUND ANOTHER ONE!!!! This ones in not as good a shape, but there's no denying what it is. Here are the pics of 1917P-1DO-001 (the next chapter). I haven't been this excited about a coin search in years folks. Sorry if it seems like I'm a little off kilter....but I am! Now I gotta run out and buy me some lottery tickets!

WOW
The odds are one in billions unless you're looking at a bunch of 1917 cents

Ed...I had two rolls of solid teen dates that I picked up about 4 weeks ago. Most were in terrible condition (a lot of culls), so I did what a tell a lot of people not to do, and that was to not finish searching them. Got a little bored today, and looked at them anyway. The second one didn't require any cleaning, but most of the rest did. I still have about half a roll soaking in Goo-Gone. If there's another one in there, I'll probably be in the hospital tonight with heart palpitations
I guess the serious side to all this is that they are indeed still out there, and you never know when good fortune will smile upon you. I have had my great days over the last 40 years or so, but today steps right up there with the best of them.

Okay Robert, I want some of the stuff that you have been drinking, LOL
Very seriously, extremely nice finds. It is very surprising what you can find out there. I would suggest a story in ERRORSCOPE or even a post on the CONECA web page as to these finds. I am sure that Ken will oblige.
Great going Bob.

Awesome finds BobP. I have been looking for this one for a couple of years now, with no luck. I havent even seen one in person, but I will eventually have my luck.
