Is the line around GOD raised or incuse. It is is incuse it may be a mark made by a coin wrapper. Raised I think it would be a scratch as lathe marks have more of a pattern to them other than one line.
The S looks like it may be subject to flow lines in that area. If you note the direction of the die flow it could happen that way. But the mark couldn't be an S as the shape is not the same as a punch would leave it. _________________ Richard S. Cooper
