Not sure if this is a doubled die or strike doubling. Looks like some separation on UST of TRUST.

Neat find!

The big one from 95-d is actualy die-3 (conecas die number). I never see pics of die-1 or die-2 but the description of die-2 might match yours.

http://coppercoins.com/lincoln/dietype.php?date=1995&die_mint=d&die_type=do&page=0

Look at Conecas description of die-2, might be it:

Very Nice! It took me a while to see it, but checking the info from CONECA, I wonder if it is not a new one. The pivot point appears to be k6, from thr direction of separation. CCW.

Dick

You used the term "K6"

What does that mean?
What is it used for?

Thanks
Mike

Like the hours of a clock, the K position on a coin describes where to look for something.

If it's a pivoted hub doubled die (class 5) this means the central point of turn for the doubling starts at some point along the rim. The big 1995 DDO has a pivot point near the date (which is why the date has very little doubling and the other side of the coin has a lot of doubling), so we describe the doubling as being from K-4, which is the 4:00 position as if the coin were a clock face.

Thanks, Chuck! You make it a lot more clearer than I would.
Mike that is what I wanted to say, but didn't have the words.
From the photo, and looking at the separation, on the motto, I believe the movement is CCW, (counter-clockwise), from a poing at k6. It didn't resemble the 002, and there is no photo of the other, but the description ,doesn't fit either. that is what made me think it might be a new one.

I think it does match Conecas description of die-2.
They say:

1995-D DDO-002
2-O-V-CCW from K-8
Light spread on WE TRUST, date, and mintmark

The doubling should be strongest opposite to 8:00 on a clock which would put the strongest doubling at about 2:00 which is near TRUST.
The way I picture pivot points is if you took 2 cents and nailed them together at the pivot point then rotate the top coin in the noted direction (CCW for this).

I seldomly see any 95-d doubled dies for sale, probably not being easy to spot and hidden in a huge mintage of billions is the reason few are found. It's tought to say a value but most variety collectors don't have one so it does have value. Also the bigger one die-3 goes for moon money.

I verified this coin as the COECA die-002. It will also be coppercoins die-002 once I get it on the site. Congratulations OCD!

Dick,

You know about those special taco bell napkins?

They are famouse for being used to make coins get pretty toning. Just wrap an ugly cleaned silver coin in one and put it on the window sill.

It does work but takes a few months.
