First, I agree with the concensus on the attribution of this coin.
Second, I use a stereo-optical microscope turned down to about 16X for my searching at home, and a 10X loupe at shows. It's not about the power, it's about optical clarity and knowing what you're looking for...really.
And Carol...when you've looked through 10,000 coins and still haven't found anything, I would officially say your luck is pretty bad...but hundreds? That's a week of searching a couple of rolls daily. Come on...you've done more than that.
Really, I would expect the following in searching:
circ wheat rolls/bags: of every 5,000 coins I would expect to see at least 1 nice doubled die, 50 minor doubled dies, 15-20 nice mintmark varieties, and around 200 minor mintmark varieties. Altogether there should be 4-5 rolls of "finds".
circ memorials from the bank: of every 5,000 coins I would expect 1 decent doubled die, 1-2 decent RPMs, and 50-100 minor yet listable doubled dies. That's 1-2 rolls of "finds".
These things are valuable because they are tough to find, scarce when you find them, and desirable by a number of people who either haven't found them or don't want to trouble themselves to look. They aren't valuable because there's one in every box...because there isn't.
