I am having a lot of fun with a bag of S mints I bought awhile back that I am just getting to. It is loaded with varieties. The coins are all circulated and some are not worth keeping but it is motivating to have a group of coins to search that actually contains some varieities vs. searching endlessly for no result.

Here are my twins for today;

Doubling on the left of T

coin #2

and the RPM is great also

Nice finds!
It makes searching more fun if there's something good in the batch.

Very Happy

rollmeupabe, You are having the same fun that I did, sime time back, when I went thru 6 bags of P-D-S cents. I didn't have timwe to check thoroughly, but the ones I did see, indicated the same thing as your bag of "S". Lots of varieties, but no errors were found. I had the coins for over three months, and did nothing but check for errors, and doubling. Neither of which were found. Lots of RPM's, but they were put back,, the coins werwe not mine. Along with the 6 bags,, was a small box with 22 rolls of varirties. The owner asked me what are varieties, and I explained. He said you can have them, I'm just after errors, and doubles. I haven't gotten around to checking them, yet, other than to see what they are. Lots of small date '60's, and '60's, some "peg-legged" '36's.

Dick, where do find a wheat penny owner who says, "you can have them"?

Every one I have met says, "you can have them, for 10 cents apiece".

He had a bag on ebay, and it didn't have any bids. I asked if they were "unsearched". He said they are '40's, and 50's, "S" mint. I don't know why, but he pulled them off, and he came over and said he had a few bags that he didn't have time to check, would I be interested in looking thru them? What can I say? sure! He said they are an accumulation of several sources, from tubes bag, obw rolls, bags with "D"' , and "S", three boxes of eastern origin, plus a box of "Varieties" . He asked what are varieties,m so I explained. He said if you check for any doubles, I'll put them on ebay, and we split what comes in. I said okay. I ended up with a large amout of assorted tubes, all denominations, and a small box of rolls, (22)), varieties. He said I could have them for checking the others, (6 bags, total). There were a lot of varieties,and RPM's. I asked if i could keep some of the varieties, as I went thru. Yes, I don't sell them. There are a lot of both varieties,and RPM's. What he has in mind is to make up random date rolls, of the '40's and '50's. There were bags of thirty's, and a few 20's, and a few teens. None that I don't already have. I kept possibly a roll, out of 30,100 coins. He obviously is not a collector. He does the sdame with other denomination coins, I suspect, from the ass't of tubes. I have bought from him, before, but didn't know who it was. He later asked if I wanted to go thru some uncirculated rolls, and I said okay. They ended up being 15 tubes of 1956 P, and some "D". They were in oil, or something very oily, and were so tightly set in the tubes, I had to cut them apart! 16 tubes. There were about 15, or 16 rolls, paper, with solid date 1-S 1960-D and some mixed dates, several rolls of '62. nd '63-P. One roll of '54-S, which had several RPM's. I called him and told him what I had found. He hasn't called, or come by for over a month. I kept the tubes, or what is left of them, and told him the coins that were in them are ruined.
