Just looking on ebay for a couple of weeks it seems to me that common bulk wheats are going for near 5 cents each. That sounds kind of high to me but most auctions lately seem to end up around this. Does that sound right to everyone? I remember in the mid 90s when I could get a well mixed bag of 5000 for a hair over $100! Times really have changed I guess.

Mark, I don't buy other than lots on ebay, or the BIN. I don't "compete" in the auctions. Been burned too many times! The seller I have been getting my wheats, and IOHC from has several prices, like $5.95/roll for run-of-the-mill cents, 48.95 for 40's-58's. Teens run $29.94. etc. IHC rolls run $79.95, w/free S&H. I bought two rolls. TYhe first had a DDO, Snow-001, in G-4. Between the two rolls, I have filled about13 holes. I did get all the 1912, (PDS). and in the last batch of teens, a 1909 and a1909 VDB. Some of the sellers have sent me culls that havwe been "culled out of culls"! I don't buy from them anymore.

Well I guess you have to find someone who is good and stick with them. I'm just experimenting right now with a couple of people. I figure the worst thing that could happen is that I'd be able to at least get a couple of cents a piece selling them after looking thru.

Thanks

That is only good, if you "Just happen" to get a good one! I have had some real rotton ones, and that turned me off wheats for a long time. I still have thousands of them, but no one wants culls, and that is what they are.

Thanks for all the input but I decided to pick up a nice 14d this weekend instead of wheats to search. I'm so excited! Nice VF

I could go that route, but the 14-D is the only one missing,in that folder; except fot the "boss", '09-S VDB, and that is only a dream. I have three mors folders, with many holes. Two of them are about equal in holes filled.
Most of the boxes I have opened, have gone to solid date rolls, (for "tomorrow", when I get time). Mine run from 2008, back to thr wheats, and they go back to the '09/ Not all rolls are full, but they are getting there. I but quiarter boxes, and return them (after pulling what I can use, in bulk) I keep the box, and they hold 70 rolls I have several milk crates full, and a bunch with 50 rolls. Most have only beemn sorted by date, mint, and rolled.
Most of what I buy, and try to fill holes, are pre-'40. So-called book one.
