Here are a few more results of last week's coin show. These are from a group of IHCs I picked out for a friend.
The funny thing is—I did not see the first 3 RPDs and the 1909 DDO when I first picked out these coins, unless it was part of a "gut feeling" to simply buy them. In any case, this adds three RPDs and one DDO to a group that already includes the 1894/1894 IHC. I think this was my best show yet!
1887 Snow-2, a subtle 8/8 RPD
1893 Snow-15, 8/8, 3/3 RPD
1908 Snow-3, 19/19 RPD, and the 1 digit in denticles MPD (crummy photo)
1909 Snow-2, DDO in date and on Longacre's initial (in 1909, date was part of hub so no RPDs)
And last but not least:
The 1894/1894 Snow-1

Jurt, here is a '05, with "ghosting", I believe, because I don't think it would be doubling on just the one word. Along that line, are there any other places where the doubling occurs, beside "America"?
thanks,
Dick

kurt, this was shot with the QX3, at 60X, mounted on the QSZ base. I tried to rotate it in the "Bucket", but it didn't 'take", so up0dise down it is. Ghosting? I din't think the possibility of MD exists on the oder presses, or at least on the "screw-type" presses.
jere are more shota either side of thar "fo":
I couldn't open a "reply, but edit did, so here it is.
Thanks, (I have a feeling this is else-where, but I don't recall if I posted it, or was thnging about it while trying to get a page on which "to reply"!
11/21Gerry, this is the area that covers the "of A", showing the ripples. The die state is MDS, I would suggest.
I can't get a full face shot with the scope I am using for the varieties, etc. As far as the QX3, I allow it to sit, and collect dust, until I find a need to ues it.(rarely)!
Dick

Looks like some kind of die movement. The bottom of the "F" took a bag mark in the shin!

Dick, the rippled surface of that IHC is pretty odd.
Like Coop suggested, my guess would be die movement too.

Whats the grade on the 1905? Its possible it has the orange peel surface of early die state coins maybe?

Yes, I believe so, as well. I posted the adjacent areas, for xcomparison.

The devices and fields seem to be affected, so I guessing coin abuse. Someone trying to make a circulated coin to look new again destroying the real value that it had before getting tampered with. If it were just the field affected, the answer would be different. But both are affected on your coin.

It would be nice to see the entire coin if possible. I have a QX3 too and I am ready to trash it. The lighting is bad and you cant photograph the whole coin.
