I've just returned from the show and had to share this find.
Thumbing through world coin binders, I saw a tray of proof Lincolns.
Seeing a 98-S, I thought "what can it hurt to check?"
Here's what I found. Now I have the pair: 98-S and 99-S Close AM.
(shot in the 2X2, lint and all)

Thanks...it did!
I did find a few other nice coins, but this tops them all.

Very well done Kurt. This is a prime example of why knowledge and education is key. Had you not known about the close AM varieties existing, you never would have looked for it on this beautiful coin.

Journalism, and Numismatics, have one thing in common: A good education, and a good "nose for news, or numismatics.
Nice going Kurt! Keep it up. We like to hear GOOD news any time!
Dick

Whenever I flip the pages and look at the modern proof reverses and see a close AM proof it turns out to be a 1993-S.
It's the odd year where everything known is close.
It would be easy to miss a wide one (hidden among the surrounding years that are wide) so look carefully, maybe a wide 93-S could be out there

Ed--have those been found already? that's a good one to keep in mind! I'm sure many dealers wouldn't consider searching--even less than those 98/99-S close AMs

Very cool find. I've been keeping an eye out for them at shows and at coin shops with no luck. Hopefully I will have one to post by tomorrow after the coin show.

Gabe, good luck! I found this simply because I took a second to look...who knows where the others are?
