Dick & Kirk, Speaking of ironic....
Last week when I found the one in my folder was the clash die I put it in a flip so my folder had a hole. I knew I had an uglier slug of a 57 that I'd tossed into a jar of wheats.
I dug it out and remembered it was a coin with a black goo gob but I poked at it (years ago) and it fell out! It was a tar bugger someone filled a big hole with. That's why I tossed it in with the common wheaties. Anyway I needed to fill that new hole so I stuck it in. Then I looked at it..... The only letter not messed up of worn off was the O in OF and the top of the O has that flat spot on it. Talk about ironic, I think it's the obv of 56 but such a holed cull! I'd spend it if I had a better hole filler LOL

Wow...is the date visible, and what about the F in OF? There's a confirming marker there too. The reason I ask about the date is that I know somebody who found an AG 1856 FE in a dealer's bargain bin.

LOL I wish mine was
On my holed cull the date is clearly a 57, somehow the date stayed nice but almost everything else was gone or pitted. I don't see the die bump on it but that area is pitted. The tips of the F are tought to call, it looks smashed. I guessed it was the concave tip but was mashed. Like I say this one's seen better days.

Hi again, Oddly enough, I got my first IHC, in a lot of wheats, and type coins . It was a 1859. The oldest one I have gotten since then was a 1865, that came in one of the two rolls I got erecently. Ugly as sin, but readable.
