Is there a way for you to dim the lighting in yours pics or possibly change the angle of the lighting? Maybe try from 12:00 or 3:00. It is a bit difficult to get a clear definition from your pic.

Unfortunately the image is lacking too much contrast and is too grainy to tell much of anything. Dimmer, more diffused lighting may help a lot.

I see the polishing line you're looking at.

Unless the pic is tricking me it looks slightly different. On the 1MM-009 on the site the line starts from about the same spot on the middle of the 6 then it goes to the NW top corner of the D. On your coin it goes slightly east of the NW corner of the D.

There are two lines. I have about 5, or 6 of these.

The arrows point to the line on yours, the 1MM-009 marker is closer to where the red line is. Also there's a similar line below the 9 but still it's not a match.

Ed, at the risk of trying your patience, Hese is the lsat shot. If this doesn't match, then it has to be a new one. I went thru 10 rolls of the '63'-D, and there are about a dozen different dies, (as near as I can tell, with my eyes). I am trying to break them further down, but I din't have the clarity I want. I may have to get a new camera, with macro lens. I don't have anything at present that suits me! Also, I can't get the magnification, AND clarity with the scopes, either.

Dick,

The guys that take great pics will have different ideas but for me (using lenses not a scope) the best way to get rid of the grainy look is by adding more optical magnification/gain and using less digital zoom. Your setup might be so different my idea might not help but I would try:

Can your setup do less zoom than that?
(if it can reduce the zoom)

Can you add a lens from something?
(any small mag lens to the camera)

Then try different lighting.

Don't quit, take a break then try something.

ed, I may quit, but I NEVER give up! As you said, take a break, (Idid battle with the freecell game), then to Photoshop. I lifted the -009 from the site, and will try to do an overlay. I have never had any luck with it, but there will be a day when it does work, and then mAybe my shots will look a bit better.
I can reduce the zoomas much as needed. As far as another lens, I don't know, (without tryting another setup.
Lighting...... I have one layer of a white handkerchief, and three layers of a milk jug.
Now, I have another option,. but it involves a different setup, and it will take a while for that. It uses a different scope, as well. The reason I thought it might work, is that I can shade the light, and it gives a funnyview, but no glare! It will take time to do it, but I'll set it up, and take a picture. The other scope has two levels of magnifiocation:20X, and 40X. No Zoom. I'll have to ise a different camera, too, probably. (you will see why, after I prtake a picture of the current setup. (and dinner, also)

I understand your frustration Dick. My scope has very intense lighting also, I seldom shoot a pic under it and only use it for trying to identify something difficult to see. I then use my camera which is not ideal but produces a better pic than the scope does.

Sandra, I know what you are saying, and after having spent a couple hours looking at Kens picture of his setup, I am thing of soing it "his way"! I have the materials, maybe not the quality, but I'll find out what I can do with mine.
One thing for sure, it can't do any worse! It might take a week, or ten days, but I have nothing but time, and NO BOSS that won't let me think for myself"! That Boss that Chuck has will really find out just how much he has lost, after Chuck is back home, where he belongs!

Dick: I don't see the spread that is the same as 009? Yours looks like a normal coin from what I've seen so far. If the RPM isn't there, no matter what you try to do will show it. Take a step back and try a RPM that you have and look to see if you system works. I think it is just a normal RPM and if it was, they just jump out at you. You know it when you spot them. There are a lot of minor spreads that will never be listed because they are too minor to list. But 009 is very obvious.
