A collector found this coin in a mint roll--one of 12 with identical marks. If these are die chips, the shape / position is sure interesting.
Photo enlarged/sharpened the best I can for detail.

Looks like the same die chipped coins that the U.S. Makes when the die chip! What makes them interesting? I guess I'm missing something??

Well, I admit I don't look at many recent cent coins, so I don't know if these sharp-edged chips are normal. Thanks

Well, I would say that the thing you are asking about is actually a "knee-pad". As you know, the subjects must bow, or kneel before the Queen, (or King). On the "G", I woud say a mark of poor craftsmanship! All good craftsmen clean the "burrs" of the finished product, to prevent cutting, or other injury.

Well, die chips are die chips...they would look the same on any coin, regardless of where it was made.
I don't know how common they are on Canadian coins, but they are very common on US made coins.

Thanks everyone...it shows how much I look for die chips on coins. I passed your info on to another collector.

I have not noticed this on the ones I have. and I check them pretty colse for MD, and any other anomalys, because they have a small premium on these, and other s that we do not, on the US coins.
