Dick - the S is not one that would necessarily be on any genuine Lincoln cent. I don't recognize it as a specific type - it's fake.

Dick,
Here's a puzzle for you or anyone that's wants to solve:
(there might be other answers but I'm thinking of easy ones, nothing tricky or rare these are common ones not errors or inverted ones)
What year wheat cent has 3 different styles of S?
What year wheat cent has 2 different styles of S?
What year wheat cent has 2 different sizes of S?

Esd, the first one is easy, it is the '46. That one is the first "Variety" I ever tried to find. That was before joining CT, CCF, CONECA, and this forum!!
I can't say which had two sizes, nor two styles, but the'42 comes to mind. I can't include the proofs, because I haven't checked more than a couple. I will say they could NOT have vbeen after '90
Not to mention that I have seen very few "S" MM, even though I live in CA. Too many "D" mm.

Ed,The 28 has 2 different sizes, small and large.I have several examples of both sizes of which I got mostly in the rolls that I have mentioned in previous threads.I'm pretty sure Dick is right on the 46.I'm not sure on the 2 different styles though.

Dick:
The answers are:
What year wheat cent has 3 different styles of S?
1946
What year wheat cent has 2 different styles of S?
1947
What year wheat cent has 2 different sizes of S?
1941 and 1928 would also fit.
The 3 styles you mentioned are all used in 1946. They changed often because as they replaced the mintmark punches
they don't always get the same exact style punches. So there's many different ones. When you see a year with more than one in most cases you'll see they used one of them the year before and you first see the one they used getting messed up/worn out then you see the new one come on line and usualy the new one is used the next year. In 1946 they threw in that 3rd one to confuse us
Another example of mid year change is 1979 and then 1981 proof cents.

I believe the "Sans Serif', is pretty scarce. The other two, I think are quite common. It is very hard, now to tell about any of them, unless I can put it under my scope, or on a camera, then project it to the TV. Then I can see it.
The way things have been this past month, I haven't checked one coin. I received three rolls of wheats, but only checked for a cross section, and they included 6 IHC. Having been under the weather, and not being in the mood for much of anything, I'm behind. I do feel better, but still noe quite ready to get back inthe game, just yet. Another day or two. Too many things happening,.

Garry,The arrow is pointing to this "The die on the left is the obverse of a silver Greek 5 Drachmai dated between 1833 and 1845. Although the British Crown, if genuine, would sell for a few hundred dollars, the Greek coin made by these dies would cost thousands. Of course, each coin die can strike tens of thousands of specimens, making this a very profitable operation!"
