Now I'm assuming that a MD can come in all different shapes and sizes and places.
In my last post on this subject http://www.coppercoins.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=16
the MD was to the west of the center of the obverse.
on this one the MD is the exact opposite of the obverse of the coin(south - north)
so is my assumption right?
Thanks
Mike
ps how are the pics. new microscope

Correct. I have so many machine doubled images I could post, but won't. (I know that makes some happy.)
Let me guess your light source? Ring Light? The problem with them is that the light/shadows contrast don't seem to show details as well. A sing light source is the best allowing light and shadows.
Note on this image. (Not my image)
Not the left side is just the right lighting and the right side has the shadow/contrast. It looks like this image was taken of a person, but it is off a coin. Finding the light that works best for you takes while.

no, acually its a 13 w halogen lite directly(beside the bottom lens) over the coin. I checked diffent angles with the lite in producing the best pics with out shadows. I know its almost impossible not to have any shadows. I've tried to incase the lite in a Quarter tube, but the lite was tooooooo hot. afraid to try a paper (white ) inbetween them might be to hot.
or
I could be out of focus

Or make yourself a curtain with a wire hanger stretched into a square with plastic grocery bag taped over the edges of the bag. This might diffuse the light to soften it and remove glare. You just have to experiment and get the best with what you have or try something else.
