I have a '14-D that was elongated at the 1933 Chicago World's Fair, believe it or not. The photo I have is pretty good. Will post it later.

Hi folks,
I am trying to find out howmany dies, and or die-pairs were used for this cent The mintage is very low, so there can't be a very large amount. I hope you can help, by posting an image of the coin, or coins you have. The normal 300X300 size will be best.

Coop, I have posted this message on several forums, and hope for some resullts. I also found the "coin-facts forum, and notice they have a list of every date, and mint, with images. i lifted the OBV, and REV of the '14--D, just to make a comparison. maybe we can answer Coops question as to how many dies were used.

Coop, here is the one from "coin-facts":

It looks like the one I have. I ran it "up" to see the date and MM, on the grid. It cam be enlarged from the listed image, (on coinfacts listing).

It was enlarged by me. But it is like John1's mint mark. So there are two out there.

This is the one I showed with the long crack.
I think it matches Johns? Maybe a later die state? The D has some erosion doubling and crack is extended.
Can't get good pics since it's in a slab.

Interesting thought...

They used 4 dies for 1909-S VDBs but it was the first year and quality was better. That would be 100,000+ coins per die and coins looked nice.

If they only used 2 dies for 1914-D that would be 500,000+ coins per die and the coins started looking bad.

I agree. the red book states there were over a million, so 500,000+, would be close. that depends on the fact that there may be other dies "ouit there, and not knwn, yet.I wionder what Chuck thinks about this, since he has done a lot of resdearch in the copper cent area. I just checked the "Packet 02" of CHucks Attribution Guide, ( the only one I have), and it does not have the 1914-D, listed. He, (chuck) lists it in his book, and confirms the very small number of dies.

I looked in CDs book, it has a pic of a nice 14-D.
It looks like the same die as yours, the one with the slightly lower D. The coin in the photo is a WOWZER!
