I broke out a roll of unc 44P's and this was the first coin that I looked at. Something is going on with the 44. At first I thought it was just die gouges around the numbers, but after looking a little closer there looks like there might be doubling also. Take a look and let me know what your opinions are.

It's master die doubling....on all 1944 cents, even the ones that turn out to be doubled dies. Check page 124 in the book, it shows a picture that just about exactly matches yours.

Thanks Chuck, that is it 100%. I must have read your book 10 times over and thought I had it all committed to memory already, but I guess I do not. Thanks for pointing that out Chuck. Next time I will doubled check your book first.
