I was going thru some rolls of 1968-S cents and found a roll with what looks to me as as the top of the 6 in the date has a second more tightly curved arm to the upper left part of the numeral. This is my first attempt to photograph thru a scope so please be kind.

I found this on 5 coins in this sealed bank roll but not in any others yet.

Looks like there's a die crack inside that number.

Joe ... mine was like that till I started to use the preview or practice shot/s on desktop ... you'll get there, like with anything else ... takes some practice and it will come.

My old eye/s are haven a bit of trouble focusing in on it ... lol.

Focus out just a bit ... and hello again. Wink

I focus in fine on the scope. Problem is I bought a fancy camera and I can not adapt it to the scope. So I had to hold the camera near the lens , but not so close to scratch the camera lens. Then focus with the camera. And God forbid there is glare you pull one hand away to adjust the light. I need a real set up. Or maybe the pic is fine and your out of focus. Yea that's the ticket...

Awww, say it ant sooo ..... hehe, you maybe right at that.

I did, just get new glasses, maybe that's ... it.

Cheers

May try this: I put a rubber o-ring, just inside of the scope lens, to hold the camera, off the scope lens, then adjust the focus, through the scope, befor the shot is taken.

Beleive it or not ... I just use a $50.00 camera, that I got from Best buy to try it out and ... does a really good job of it, as you can see from my posted pictures.

(Intel Pocket PC Camera, just under $50.00)

Not saying this to make ya feel bad, but as you have seen, thy do come out pretty well, even if I say so myself.

I just put the camera, right on the scope lens, then adjust again, if needed. On my scope, the camera lens and scope lens, never come into contact, just have to find what works, best for you.

I'll have to try that. I had picked up a camera set up I thought I would be happy with($300 and change out the window). It is made by MOTIC. It has a camera hooked directly up to a usb port and comes with great software and adapters to connect their camera to any microscope. I did not like it at all. The resolution was terrible.
I wound up just putting it on the shelf and look to pick up a cheap digital camera which the adapters will fit. I enjoy my coins but it would be much nicer to be able to share.

Doing it this way, (camera on the scope itself 'lens' by hand) I can see what I'm fixen to shut ... on my desktop befor I ever hit the snap-shot ... works for me.

I'll say this tho, in doing it like this ... it is a bit hard to focus the scope with the camera but after a few test shot/s ... works great ... and the difference in the money/s part ... makes it all that much better.

Only trouble you will have is finding the right angle to get the shot ... tilt back and forth or side to side and you'll see it, then after that, it all comes back, like that first, bike ride ya took on the first try ... hehe ... we all remember our first ride 'don't we'?

1. focus scope on what you want to take a shot of

2. then place camera on scope in what-ever manner you chose

3. look / see what the picture will look like then, take the snap shot

A bit more time consuming, but alot cheaper and after ya get a handle on it ... you well on your way.

Good luck and happy hunting.
