Hi bob! Long time no see!
I'm glad you chiomed in, because I figured you would confirm what i had begun to suspect. I had the impression that it was either a triple RPD, or at least a double-punched letter. The idea about the clash came from an image on another site, stating the possibility of a clash. After blowing it up very bug, and noting the formation of the top area, I began to think tripl-punch. But when rotated, the extra "stuff' on top tends to disappear,so I thought I would post it in several places, and ask.
Bob, yours is the first to indicate an RPD. several say clash, but no marks fit the plactment, and angle of the "remnants". I was going to try and make an overlay of that particular cent, (1881-H, OBV-1), and ss what might fit. Mentally, there is nothing, so it comes down to the "material".
The nice thing about the coin is that it is in very good condition, and lends itself to the intended project.
Coop, if you are lurking, I may come looking for help, in case I can't make it work here. (when iI could see, it still didn't work, and now.....)
Bob, I didn't mean, or intend to slight you! I am so used to asking Coop for help, that everyone else just do not come to mind.

Dick,
I don't have a problem with asking Coop for help. You guys are here more often than I am. Let me know if you come up with anything different on this coin.

Hi Bob!, sorry about the belated response, but you know how it goes. One day is good, another is bad.
I figured what with all the work you and BJ are involved in, you wouldn't have time for something like that, and at the same time having to contend with hurricanes, etc, sooooo
All coop does is work, and play with his "elements, and avatars".
Happy Thanksgiving Day, to you and yours!

I cannot see the original pic, but Coop's overlay sure suggests an RPD. I have yet to find a Canadian RPD--I need to look closer.

Kurt, If you are where you said you were, some time back, then it shouldn't be too hard to find a place where they are "abundant". The victiria large cents are what this one came from, 1881-H. It also has a real beauty of a triple punched "N" in Regina.
Of course you may need "snow-shoes", to go back and forth,LOL!
Cooop, I was going to ask, what is that "coin scratch"? I have never seen anything like it before, but it sure would come in handy for many "odd mark" searches.
Dick

It is just a scratch the coin received somewhere during it's life. It is not a die scratch. I mentioned it as it affected the way the area above the 1 and to the west of the 1. It did some damage to the coin, but it is still a nice RPD.

Okay. I thought you had found some way to reverse the two strikes, to make them "stand out". They sure do, and it surprised me, seeing it so clear.
