Yo Billy,
Your book has an URS-2 for this RPM (as of 2003), you need to change it to an URS-5, as I just found 10 more of these.
Just purchased 100 OBW rolls off E-Bay and found these while going through them. (35 rolls to go)
Chuck, also noticed we don't have any listed on the site ... I'll send one in with the other/s in the next batch. (want to get another 10 - 12 as last time ... befor I send em in, if that's ok with you)
Thy show the marker: A prominent die gouge (large dot) directly south of the digit "8" of the date.
Have not noticed if any were of the CRPM-001, the one pictured is further south. (CRPM-001 is closer to the tail of the nine and does not have the die gouge (dot below the "8" in date.)
Happy hunting all.

Pennyhound,
Congrats on finding a hoard. I will change my file card to reflect the URS update.
Let me know if you would like to depart with one. I don't have a specimen in my personal collection.
Good Hunting!!!
Regards,
Billy

Email sent ... Billy.
Looking at this again, a close up might show, two tilled to the west, instead of just one ... I'll do that, after I finish going thru these. (when, I check for the '001/s') After looking and reading (die marker/s) in your book, didn't notice a die gouge in the upper loop of "S", just the one at the lower "8" in date.
Will let you know.
Happy hunting (think my drought has broken)

Pennyhound,
By comparing with your above pic and by the way the die gouge just south of the digit "8" appears to be a little more distinct -- it could be your specimen(s) are of a slightly earlier die stage.
I sent you an e-mail reply. Thanks...
Regards,
Billy

Nice find pennyhound. It is nice to be rewarded with a great and somewhat rare variety find when you make a purchase like that. The same goes here if you find more specimens and are willing to sell or trade for one. I don't have that one in my collection either. Once again...nice find!

Nice find pennyhound. I would be also interested in owning one of these in my collection. Let me know if you are planning on using them for trading or selling.

Thanks for the kind words pennyhound. It is a pleasure working on the site with Chuck and seeing the forum come to life as well. Stay tuned also as Chuck has more new 'stuff' coming on the site. Thanks for holding on to one of those RPMs for me also. I really appreciate it.

Gabe,
Sorry I missed ya on the posting (above Bob there) but yes, to your question, just click the "web site" below my posting/s for the site.
Looks like this is about it ... only one other found and only 18 rolls left to go thru in this batch.

Just in case you have enough when you're finished looking, I could use one of those too. I've never found anything of merit in cents of that era, even though I have looked through thousands of them. Nice find!

No problem Chuck, as I said to Bob allways willing to share with those that give so much. I'll hold one back for yas.
Finished up on that box of 1980D's and moved into a "mint sewn bag" of these and am coming up dry.
Did find two more tho ... wish thy weren't as spotty as most of these are, the nearly spot free / lesser spotted one's are going to go in for certification/s.
Still an "URS-5" as the total number now stands at 14 pieces. (Billy)
BTW, thy were all: CRPM-002 ... no, CRPM-001.

Hay guys ... just looking at that "die gouge" marker agian.
Are my eyes playing tricks on me ... at this late hour ... as I have sent best copies in for certification ...
Imagine for a minute: that an "S" is laying on that lower loop of the "8" in that date ????? with the top loop just resting on the lower loop of the "8" and the lower loop of the "S" ... laying just under the "8" in the date ... I haven't been able to figure out how to do an overlay yet ... but could it be ??? (tilted east, top & west at the bottom ... 15 - 20 degrees, look/s like the height & width are right)
Some one want to check that out for me? (maybe)
What ya'll think ... it's late so my eye's could be playing tricks on me ... but then again ...
maybe just wishfull thinking.
Again ... happy hunting all.

1. It's too small to be a mintmark.
2. The punch is flat. It wouldn't be able to punch into the die deeply enough to affect the deepest part of the date digit without being extremely strong in the field.
