I picked out this 28D that appears to have a nice upper split serif and what looks to be part of an extra vertical bar. Is anyone familiar with this die? Any opinions are appreciated.

I am not familiar with that one. I really can't tell from the pics, but is it a real split serif, or is it a possiblity of a coin hit? If it is a genuine RPM, that is a real nice find as it would be the second one for 1928D (as far as I know). CONECA lists a D/D southeast as the only one for the D mint in 1928.

My opinion is that it is too minor to list if it is anything at all. Too hard to tell whether that's an artifact of die wear, a damaged mintmark punch, or a split serif from repunching.
