I went to the collectors.com site today and searched for help on how to get better lighting for coin pictures. Someone suggested using an OTT light. It turns out OTT is a mfg. of a line of full spectrum lighting. I bought one today and discovered this type of lighting is much better. I always thought halogen lights were good because they create so much light. Unfortunately they leave a lot of glare on the red / uncirculated coins I have photographed. The full spectrum light worked much better. If anyone has a Michaels arts and crafts store near them they are clearing out their OTT lights at half price for some models. Even at half price they are expensive ($65 - $85) but they work great. Their are also online stores if you search for full spectrum lighting.

Thanks for the heads up ... I'm still using the old, light ring, with 4 sheet/s of cut paper (white) to filter the light. (less glare) May try some other things in the future tho.
Found "incandescent" lighting works best for me, (more natural light/s/ing shows off cooper better) with less/no doctoring of lighting effects.

I look good in all lights, but best in the dark!
