Aruba is one of the "ABC" islands (Bonaire and Curacao are the others) which make up the Netherlands Antilles. They are a Dutch colony just off the coast of Venezuela. They are known for great scuba diving and oil refining (among other things) and they refined much of the Allies' oil during WWII.
I've started really liking the Dutch lately. They're probably my favorite European country outside of the UK and maybe Ireland. And no, I don't mean just Amsterdam. I believe the Dutch are a staunch ally of ours, just behind the UK.
I have an old silver Dutch coin with a picture of a person with a pike at one hand and a big book at the other. The motto says "HANC TVEMVR HAC NITIMVR" which loosely translates to "With this (pike) we defend; With this (book) we strive". How's that for a great motto?
Anyway, this Aruban museum looks good to me. Mr. Odor had quite a collection there. I'd love to go there and see it one day.
