New (and free) Die Variety News - Online

FYI: Billy Crawford has recently started a newsletter called Die Variety News (DVN for short). It is available online at:

The newsletter is in PDF format - so you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to open the newsletter file. It is free and it covers a mix of classic die varieties, error coins, and new discoveries. It is worth checking out.

And no - there is not anything in this for me. I am partial to issue number 1, though. Pages 8 and 9 feature photos of some DDO nickels that I found.

FYI: Billy just released his 3rd issue, which includes all of the 2006 1c varieties he's attributed so far (lots of them). Plus, he did a little write-up on my 1968 D DDRs, discussing the different die states and the swap-out of the obverse die.

FYI - Billy Crawford has recently released his fourth and fifth editions of Die Variety News magazine (see link at the top of this post). In the 4th issue, he covers the first batch of 2005 Ocean in View 5c DDRs, plus more 2006 1c die varieties. In the 5th issue, he covers 2005 Oregon 25c DDRs, and another large batch of 2005 Ocean in VIew 5c DDRs.

Unfortunatly, Billy has limited space on his server and he has already had to take the first 3 issues off-line. So if you want to save these PDF documents for future reference, you might want to save them to your local hard drive.
