I have a 1980s proof quarter that has the mint mark doubled S/S does anyone else have one of these or know if it is listed or not. I don't belive it is mechanical doubling since it isn't doubled anywhere elese, obv. or rev. only the mint mark to the left of the "S".

Mike,
I am not aware of any RPMs for the 1980 quarter. Is it possible to post a picture of the mintmark so I can have a look?

Not the greastest pic but hope this helps. The secondary image is on the left the pic looks like its on the right (this is a mirror image off the coin) but that's more or less what I see under magnifacation.

Can't tell anything with the picture that is posted. I would have to see the coin to be able to tell if it is an RPM or not. Also, it is not uncommon to have only one small area that shows strike/mechanical doubling. Proof coins from that time frame were struck multiple times to get the deep proof surface. If you can either get a pic of the mintmark only, or send it to me, we can get a better idea.

I don't know about that Mike. I have found some nice varieties (both RPMs and Doubled Dies) 50 years after they were minted. There is always the chance yours will be a new find. I will let you know when I get it and what my diagnosis is.

1913S-1MM-001 is the best example I can think of.
