I have notice that most photos here are very good close ups. I have a nikon 995 coolpix. I think I need to buy a macro lens to take better close up shots. I also seem to have trouble find the correct lighting. Can anyone give me any help or links to where I can buy a good macro lens for this camera.

Robert: Most images on the site are taken through a microscope. For your camera you need a macro feature or lens that let you take pictures within an inch (or less) that will focus with your camera. Lighting is always a big task to get a handle on, so if you ask different individuals they will probably give you different ideas on how to handle this problem. So read other threads on this subject on Photography and that may help you. If it don't feel free to ask for ideas. All would be happy to share what they know. _________________ Richard S. Cooper

Robert,
Best Buy sells a combination Macro/Wide Angle lens for about $35 which comes with a variety of step rings. I use it occasionally and it allows me to be much more flexible with the lighting then a microscope. Don't know if it would fit your camera but it's a low cost alternative. It requires some kind of copystand arrangement to steady the camera. I used a disassembled desk lamp and the proper sized bolt from the hardware store, It also requires you use the camera's timer function to give it time to steady.
