Chuck, what you have said so far, greatly interests me, and you can "take it to the bank" as far as the fee(s) for the membership, attributations, etc. I was very surpeised that site such as this, would be available, without a fee! If there is anything that you feel I could do to help the site, I would be very proud to donate my time to that end.

Im not sure what you pay for server space but if you pay over 100 bucks a month you could make a hella of a server based in your own house using your home broadband (i assume you have broadband) I know i pay 49.99 for my internet for up to 8meg connection. But for 20 more they gaurentee a 10 meg con with no variance not to mention 2gig of storage space. I know that at 1 time i took a old computer with a 60 gig hard drive and it could handle 6 people text chatting not to mention it was a server for teamspeak and ventrillo for a game i played so it had up to 80 people on it at a time and never quirked. If you put a real server together i think you could host your own site from a computer at your house. Just a thought

Also an image host could work if you had enough space. I know there free ones out there, but I pay for my space to lost images with. Hundreds of them. Another way to bring in revenue for the site/owners.

I pay $46,00/Mo. for broadband, and the AOL fees, high, but with good virus protection, so it balances out. I have a 120GB HDD, running XP, and it is used for everything. I also use a SCSI wide, 18GB on the other unit, with 98SE, and the third, is a special unit with 98SE, and a 40 GB iIDE, all networked together, and all on line. THings that, for some reason, I can't move directly to another, gets "emailed" to the other. One day I am going to learn a little about servers, and maybe use one with a 160 GB, for storage, and 'net access. That way I can put all my photos there, and invite others to see, and make use of, as well. Just a thought.

Seems like it would be cheaper to burn them to a disk? That way you could remove them off your computer if you need the space. I got a new computer and still not making any headway with it yet. I've got to set up everyone in the emails and addresses again. Be nice it everyone emailed me and I could reply and it adds them to my address book. That would work. I just have to find the old list on one of my disks...

Coop, why not use the "file transfer wizard" on XP, to do that? It makes it easy, moving from one to another computer.
I could use the CD, or DVD burner, but at present I just use the Zip drive. I don't have that much material to store, yet. If the "new(er) computer has a bigger HDD, you could "image" it, and not have to do all that re-installing! Or, just hook a lap-link cable to the old one, and use it as-is. Just like skinning a cat. I just shove my hand down his throat, grab the tail, and "jerk"! I better get back to checking my coins....

I burn the images onto a disk and even watch them on a DVD player on my TV. I just don't have the room for a second computer. The new one has massive hard drive space. (320 GB) I never filled the 40 Gig drive on the old one. I guess the main reason is that the closed disks can be used on a different computer and they are fairly inexpensive. When I need an image, Then I will move that image to the new computer. Till then it will sit on a disk. (Floppy or CD) I bought a floppy 3.5 diskette to plug into the USB port and it works great. My camera usues the floppy disks and it is still working... 11,000 images plus. I have a back up camera that will be used when the time comes. I always wonder how much long the first camera will keep going???
