Kurt, I am not "into" IHC's, but there are a few here that are, and naybe the sample of a common era might bring out a few more varieties, yet. It must be interesting working at the JPL Labs. right? The last launch is on my desk tv, and until they land safely, I will be keeping an eye on the youngsters up threre! Maybe in my next life, I too, will build space ships, maybe even fly them, too!

JPL would be interesting! Of course, that's S. CA, and up here it's NASA/Ames. I have a few friends who worked on Apollo and later missions. My involvement was very minor, and unrelated to launches. My actual business now involves developing educational software for an engineering firm. Well, that's off-topic I guess Laughing

I just cherrypicked another IHC variety, and now I'm waiting for Rick Snow's confirmation. Very Happy If that checks out, I'll post it the appropriate place.

Kurt, that is nice! I had you farther south. LOL
Nice fine on that IHC. I'll be looking for the post. I have a few, but din't actively collect them. Little too rich for my blood(type).

Kurt I was looking at the other mark on the coin, and it could be an early stage of the die, not too long before it shattered, and would have left a nice CUD!

Dick,
I also thought there could be a die fragment that was being held in place. I'm rather glad this coin is mostly intact, since I can't exactly get another too easily! Laughing I'll take a closeup shot sometime today of that area--just for fun!

Here's a detail of the coin at full resolution. As you can see, there are a few faint cracks on the left, and between those two vertical bars, there's a raised portion of the field at a different angle. My guess is a piece of the die broke off but remained wedged there:

Kurt, that photo is BEAUTIFUL!!! I would agree with you, after seeing it. I'm surprised that it held together, even that long!
Looks like my next large expense item will be a camera, that can take Real good close-ups!

Kurt, while I'm thinking about what I just read in the "new finds" area, I would suggest you read the thread. I say this, because of your recent finds in the "Wide A-M '98.

Gary, I don't understand the question as this post concerns a coin from Bhutan. Question

I do own some IHC varieties too, but I don't have the list before me. Very Happy

Kurt: in your post from March 12 at 7:14 you said you had cherry picked an IHC variety and sent it to Rick Snow for confirmation. I should have referred to it on my prior post.

Gary--ah, I get it now! Very Happy
That particular one is possibly an 1883 Snow-1. Rick Snow's forum is quiet, and feedback takes time. I'm pretty certain it's a LDS of that variety, but may explain the lack of interest there. Confused
