Thanks Smed and Gabe for your inputs. Seems like we are narrowing in on this particular coin being or having master type doubling. Either way, it is a great coin to see the doubling on. I do like the design elements on it, and the doubling makes it that much better. Anyone else?

Coop., I have a batch of several denominations, that were from my grocery store in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mex. There are about a double handfull left. When I returned to AZ, in '87, I had a shoe box full of the minor coinage, but gave it to a neighbor's son! I was not actively collecting then. I did start about a year ago, so you might say I'm just a YN, with a long white beard. I have some nice doubles, and off centered, or MAD, possibly. I will be uploading them to photobucket, soon. Too bad I didn't know about this forum when I returned in '66. I had a very nice Mexican collection, that I sold, to feed the kids. I was way back into the Colonial Era, and had just about everything, except the "alasanas" Gold 8 Escudos or 16 Reales. I hated to see it go, but the kids had to eat! Dick

Bob, you will see some of these I have, a bit later. They have to be uploaded to Photobucket, but will be available, as soon as I finish "shooting "them! Dick

Bob, Coop, Smed, I guess I should put in my two centavos. That coin is known as the "Chepina chica. There are two five centavo coins with the same details, except they are not the same size, and date. Hub doubling is quite common in the Mexican coinage. Once I get my photos down to a square format, I'll post several sizes, and denominations with, and without the doubling. I have some clashed die coins, to show, but the shadowing is critical to be able to see it. Mexican coinage was my "first love", and holds a soft spot to this day. I don't actively look for them, but any Mexican coin thet I see, becomes part of my "Hoard"! Well, not all. After all, I don't have the "unlimited resources" that Chuck has! BTW, the die cracks, and out right fractures are quite common in many of the coins..
