The reverse of the Wisconsin Quarter shows ears of corn. Was this the first time ears of corn were used on a coin?

I believe the first time was 1854 on the $1 and $3 gold. You can't see the grains of corn, but the ears are there.
Same reverse wreath used for the flying eagle cent two years later...
Also, I think you'll find that the Barber dime ran til 1916, not 1915

Only one other country I can think of that had corn on their coins - Mexico, on the 1c coin of the mid-20th century. There might be others, but given that corn is a North American discovery, it's likely that other continents probably never used it on their coins.

BTW, that Longacre reverse design was done to signify all of our chief agricultural goods...from bottom to top, tobacco, wheat, corn, and cotton. The tassles on top are what we call sileage in these parts, but it probably has another name. They use it to make alcohol. Cattle can eat the leaves.
