No it's not a typo. The earliest spelling was "disme", not "dime" although the pronouncations are the same.
Per Coin World Nov 27 issue, a guy in VA found one of these half dismes in October while metal detecting.
For those new to the hobby, those coins are worth thousands even if they're worn almost smooth. And George Washinton is rumored to have supplied the silver (some from his own silverware) in order to make the coins.
